ok I really don't have a history on them (I've never soken with them) Here is what is on the instide cover of Live from the Pharmacy(this is kind of a biography.

Well, I guess you could say that I have had a pretty good view of Guttermouth from just about the very beginning. There was actually an earlier version of the band with Mark and Derek being the only original guys. I'm not quite sure if the party or the shaw that they played(about two of each) really makes them official or not, but the one thing that survived from this early period was the name Guttermouth, which Tim, the drummer at the time came up with and it stuck.

I guess you could say that we grew up in the middle of the second wave of the L.A. punk scene. We all lived in North Orange County and we were luck enough to have classic bands and clubs all around us. Locally the Adolescents, the Vandals, even Social Distortion played the Coo Coo's Nest, the Galaxy, many one time restaurants and boys clubs, even an occasional party. While in L.A. Fear, the Descendents, the Angry Samoans, even Black Flag would play with Orange County bands at places like the Vex, the Hong Kong Cafe, the Olympic Auditorium, the Cathey De Grande, and the Whiskey to name a few. All these bands and places definitely had a great impact on us.

Times were pretty simple. There was not fiffy different kinds of punk rock music like today. If you were a freak you fit in. There was also a much greater element of danger. Shows could be damn scary, riots were frequent and the cops and jocks were always fucking with little punk rockers. At best you could say we were pretty much little fucking criminals looking for trouble and "punk" was well, more punk!

Now a bit more band history. The year was '82. Mark's first band was called Republic. Mark actually played, or tried to play bass guitar. This version of Republic only played one show which was at Skate City in Whittier, California. Believe it or not, Lance Mountain was the drummer. Mark was immediately replaced on bass by another Skate City local, by the name of Neil Blender. Shortly after Mark pawned his Renial bass, then stole a microphone from a church, he and a schoolmate named Mr. Scott Sheldon were on their way. With Mark's stolen microphone and Scott's guitar from Gemco, they gave it another shot. They would write songs that Guttermouth plays to this day.

A few years later Republic broke up. Myself(Captain James Nunn) being 3 or 4 years younger, respectively, was recruited for Scott's second band(which shall remain nameless) in 1984. To make a very long story short, the next four years were pretty scattered. We were all still friends and were all in the same scene, so to speak. Mine and Scott's band broke up. Mark and I tried a few projects. I should mention that this whole time Derek was always around playing in bands around town as well. All of us had mutual friends and always went to shows and hung out together.

In 1988 or so, by coincidence, Derek moved to Huntington Beach. About a year later Mark and myself moved to Huntington also. Scott went camping in the Caribbean until early 1989. Upon Scott's arrival back to Orange County, we felt that we should all have a go at this music thing together.

As I explained earlier, Mark and Eric had elready fashioned a band with the Guttermouth name about six months earlier. When this dissolved, Mark and Eric wanted Scott and I to join them and continue to under the Guttermouth name. One of them knew this guy Clint who became the bass player. All people now mentioned, Mark, Scott, Derek, Clint, and yours truly Captain James Nunn, are considered original Guttermouth members.

In the Summer of 1989, the ship was off and sailing. We all had lots of friends so we were fortunate enough to get gigs. We would literally play everywhere we could almost always for a couple of beers.

Now, these years are pretty foggy due to drugs and alcohol, but one thing was for sure, people liked our shows. I'm not sure why because we were a mess, but slowly we built a strong local following. We could barely play and most of the shows were out of control. A guy named Dr. Strange saw us play a show at a club called Ugene's in Pico Ricera. He came up to Mark after our set and said "I want to record you and put out your records." Well, Mark forgot because he was a bit drunken, so a couple of days later when Dr. Strange called, Mark did not even remember talking to him. After he explained himself again, we selebrated our soon to be released 7" with chips and Cold Duck. This would become known as "Puke", our first recorded materical.
